May 2005 Storm Chasing photos

I had the most fantastic time in Tornado Alley this year. My brother and I went with a reputable tour company - Tempest Tours. They are an absolutely fantastic tour company and we are planning on going with them again next year. Although this May was the lowest on record for tornadoes and we saw none, it didn't matter as we saw the most incredible sights. Tempest certainly got us to the correct place. On our first chase day, we would have seen a tornado in North Platte, Nebraska [I think] but the tornado was rain wrapped so we couldn't see it.

On one of the last chase days we were right by a tornadic storm, with a massive wall cloud rotating at tremendous speed. It gave us a tornado for about 30 seconds but it was too far away to photograph unfortunately. As the storm approached it tried again, you could see the 'finger' of the cloud stream downwards to meet the earth, but unfortunately there just wasn't enough moisture in the air for it to touch down. Was still incredible though.
